Save the Indonesian Coral Reef - Your Help is Crucial!

Welcome to our initiative to restore and protect the coral reef around Lombok and the Gili Islands. We are Cas, Vince, Sara, and Maurits, and in collaboration with the TU Delft, we are working closely with the Indonesia Biru Foundation to address this urgent issue. Indonesia Biru Foundation (IBF) was established in 2020 and is an independent organization dedicated to coral reef research, restoration, and the development of coastal communities.

Did you know that since the 1950s, more than half of the world's coral reefs have disappeared? If this trend continues, by 2050, over 90% of the reefs will have become extinct or severely damaged. This has far-reaching consequences, not only for life beneath the sea but also for humanity itself. Coral reefs provide nearly a billion people with income, food, medicines, tourism, and protection against fierce waves.

Why is your help so crucial?

IBF has the expertise to restore coral reefs, but we need your help to acquire the necessary equipment. These specialized aquariums allow us to fully control the climate, enabling young coral to grow. Once they are strong enough, they are reintroduced to the sea, where they will thrive in their natural environment. We will establish a new research lab in the south of Lombok to also restore the reef there and expand knowledge and expertise to the rest of the island!

We need a total of €2000, with €1500 allocated for the new research lab and the remaining €500 for campaigns and workshops to raise awareness among the local population about the importance of coral reefs.

Help us save the coral reef in Indonesia. Your contribution is invaluable. Together, we can make a positive impact and provide a lifeline to this beautiful ecosystem. Donate now and make a difference!
