Hello friends,

We are Emile and Merlijn, two Industrial Design Engineering students at the Technical University in Delft. We are extremely excited to share with you our documentary project: "Ssebo." Our film aims to highlight the importance of industrial design in low-resource settings.

As industrial design students, we have seen firsthand how the industry tends to focus on developing products and services for developed markets and ends up discriminating against a huge part of the world's population. With our documentary, we want to showcase the innovative solutions and impact that appropriate design can have in low-resource settings by telling the stories of local designers, craftsmen, professors, architects, and many other interesting voices from Uganda.

We have already lived in Uganda for three months last summer to research and film part of the documentary. We have already come a long way, but now we need your support to bring this project to completion. Along with a filmer, we will be returning to Uganda in April to film the end of the documentary and to organise a local pre-screening event to record people's opinions and conclusions on the film. We also need additional funds for post-production, including color correction, audio engineering, and animations. Our goal is to raise €5000, and any contribution you can make will bring us closer to being able to share this story.

The premiere of the documentary will take place in both Delft and Antwerpen on the following dates:

Delft - Wednesday 14th of June

Antwerpen - Saterday 17th of June

In the meantime, have a look at our trailer!

Thank you for considering supporting our campaign, and we look forward to sharing the documentary with you. You can follow our journey on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/company/ssebo/

See you at the premiere event in June!

Best regards,

Merlijn Lewerissa and Emile Waterkeyn

05-06-2023 | 10:15 Dear funders, We have only one week left until we are ready to show you the documentary! We have been trying to reach you about the premiere events through our email (ssebodesign@gmail.com), but the Gmail algorithm landed us in most of your spam boxes. If you have donated 25 euros or more through the crowdfunding platform, please check whether you have received an email with info about the premiere event (also in spam). If you haven't but you think you were supposed to receive a ticket, you can send us an email and we can check whether something went wrong.  Also, we still have some room left at the venue in Antwerp where we are screening the documentary on the 17th of June. Here we will also have a special guest who has flown all the way from Uganda, for the ones who would still like to join. At 8:30 we hit the play button. The event will last until 22:30, but you are welcome to stay and have a drink at the bar. The venue is Transit, Permeke at Boomsesteenweg 441, 2020 Antwerpen If there is any question about the premieres, or in general about the documentary; don't hesitate to send us a message! See you soon! Emile and Merlijn
